Steinar Haga Kristensen

Steinar Haga Kristensen began working in printmaking in 2019, following a long-standing practice in sculpture, painting and performance. His first series in the new medium was an anniversary tribute to a motif he had worked with since long before training as an artist: Sick Prophet.

Anniversary 2020

Anniversary 2020 portrays a man carrying Steinar Haga Kristensen's earlier works, mostly sculptures. The series has also been developed into a video game, in which the figure, in a choice of avatar, moves through three different worlds built from the artist's own works. The goal of the game is to find another man carrying a sculpture and embrace him. In the embrace, the work is released, and it shatters.

Anniversary 2021

Anniversary 2021 marks ten years since Steinar Haga Kristensen first met the Queen. At that meeting he wore Norwegian folk costume (bunad) and carried a package containing the objects that Ashlad, in the folk tale, gave the princess, the things no one could out-talk: a magpie, a willow-branch snare, a nappy, a potsherd, two matching antelope horns, and a worn-out shoe sole.
