Universal Limited Art Editions is a fine print publisher located in Long Island, New York. Established in 1957 by Tatyana Grosman, ULAE continues to publish limited editions, and has transformed into not only a publishing house but also a workshop, having hosted many important names in the art industry. The collaborative experiences with master printers at ULAE led many artists to become prolific printmakers and to make the medium integral to their overall practice. Its time-honored practice of artistic collaboration, quality, and technical experimentation has continued to keep ULAE in the forefront of contemporary printmaking in the U.S. and around the world for over 60 years.
Bill Goldston joined Universal Limited Art Editions in 1969, and has been the director and master printer of the ULAE studio from 1982 onwards. He is the main patron of the QSPA Inspirational Award, alongside the Queen Sonja Print Award Foundation itself and was appointed the first Honorary Member in 2021. Today Larissa Goldstone, Bill’s daughter and Tatyana’s goddaughter, carries on the tradition.
