The Danish visual artist Svend-Allan Sørensen presents BEAT COLOUR BAM SLAM BOOM , his third solo exhibition in Oslo. Working at the intersection of visual art, literature, rural life and hunting culture, Sørensen has developed a distinctive graphic practice grounded in linocuts, woodcuts, etchings and lithography. Sørensen draws upon close, lived experiences of landscape and nature. His works revolve around themes of hunting, wildlife and the human relationship to the natural environment. Hunting forms both a thematic and experiential foundation within his artistic practice, shaping his imagery as well as his conceptual approach.Text frequently appears alongside motifs of birds, tools and references to hunting traditions. Through printmaking, Sørensen situates these elements within a dynamic tension between tradition and contemporaneity, where questions of aesthetics, cultural inheritance and understandings of nature are explored with humour and precision.
Svend-Allan Sørensen (b. 1975) is based in Tovstrup, Jutland. He was the QSPA prizewinner in 2014. He has exhibited widely in Denmark and internationally, and his graphic works are represented in both private and public collections.
