Håvard Homstvedt

Board member of the Queen Sonja Print Award

Håvard Homstvedt (b. 1976) resides and works in Oslo. He employs both two and three- dimensional techniques within a figurative visual language, with a particular focus on head shapes and human figures. Across his paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphic works, Homstvedt integrates abstract figurative visual elements with hints of the absurd, emphasizing materiality and texture to evoke a sense of relief on the surface.

Homstvedt holds a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with Honors, from the Rhode Island School of Design. He gained international recognition when he was featured by Art Review magazine in 2007 as one of the world's 25 most promising artists. He has exhibited in a variety of prestigious galleries and venues nationally and internationally, including Kantor Feuer in Los Angeles, Art Basel in Switzerland, Studio Hugo Opdahl in Flø, Galleri Riis in Oslo and Stockholm, and K-U-K in Trondheim. His works have been acquired by institutions such as the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, the Sørlandets Kunstmuseum, the Kistefos Museum, and Yale University.
